Eat Foods That Alleviate Severe Acid Reflux Problems
Posted January 26th, 2012 by SpikeKnowing the foods that are triggering your severe acid reflux is going to help you to get closer to a cure for your condition. You’re going to have a much healthier life when you can stop taking antacids and other indigestion medication every time you eat. Your body is going to start functioning a lot better when you make the decision to do something positive about your condition.
Eat smaller meals
When you suffer from chronic acid reflux it’s just as important to cut down the size of your meals as it is to watch what you eat. If you keep on filling your stomach to the brim then you’re increasing the chances of having acid and bits of food spit out and irritate your esophagus.
If this keeps on happening then you’ll eventually damage the lining of the esophagus which can lead to complications later in life. Once you so this it will be the first step to a life of better health.
Foods to avoid
Rather than looking for foods to combat acid reflux, you’re better off creating a list of foods that are triggering your indigestion. Everybody gets affected by different foods. And it’s pointless to eat foods that are combating indigestion that is caused by eating another food that is causing it. If you can, it’s a lot easier to avoid getting the acid reflux symptoms in the first place.
Your body will benefit from you eating foods that are going to stimulate your digestion. These foods will be your own personal digestive stimulators as they are different for everyone so you just need to do some of your own research. Your perfect diet is going to take a lot of trial and error.
If you’re continually eating foods that are high in fat and they are unhealthy then these should be the first foods that you cut out of your diet. Eating more fresh fruit and vegetables is going to help you a lot. This healthier diet will help you lose a few pounds if you need too, and it will start filling your body with necessary nutrients.
You need to avoid processed foods. All the additives and everything else that is put into these foods are of no benefit to your body at all. If you’re eating a lot of processed meats then these can have a negative effect on the bacterial balance in your body. These foods carry traces of antibiotics and steroids that are harmful to your intestinal flora.
Live yogurt
Once you add a live yogurt to your diet every day your digestion will improve. Your body needs the friendly bacteria that you’ll find in the yogurt to help your body’s digestive process. Good bacteria fight off other organisms that shouldn’t be in you, and they also help you break down your food so it releases more nutrients.
If you’re taking a lot of antacids or using a lot of acid reflux remedies then you will have yeast and fungus entering your digestive tract every day. The reason for this is because your stomach acid is not killing them as they enter your body. And the simple reason for that is, all the medication you’re taking is neutralizing the acid in your stomach.
Your GERD must be treated from the root cause or you’ll be on antacids forever. Eating smaller meals and looking after your internal health is going to do you a lot better than just taking indigestion remedies all the time. Some people end up on acid reflux remedies for years because they don’t get to the root cause of their problem. Don’t be one of them.
