Do People Really Care About the Size of a Laptop?

The question in computer portability has become, “Does physical size really matter or is it more important to have a computing machine that allows you to fit every piece of software and save as many data files as will fit on your computing device?” Another question may be whether the smaller sizes are more worthwhile or if the light-weight portability is the main matter. I think the availability of different types of laptops these days lets us really personalize our productivity machines into something that works for everyone and doesn’t always have to be run of the mill for everyone.

The release of the new macbookair by Apple has really given us a choice with the size and what kind of mobile computing device we drag around with us all the time. At less than 3 pounds and thinner than a picture frame, we don’t have to get a workout every time we go on a trip. It has a 13 inch display and a full-size keyboard. Why wouldn’t I be interested? This is the very quality I have been calling for.

When I first witnessed the youtube video for the MacBook Air with a slim, easy to transport computer coming out of that manila envelope, I was just amazed. Now, that’s the solution I’ve been looking for. Now it doesn’t have to be a modern micracle to take my portable computer with me anymore! No extra bag that can weigh nearly as much as the portable computer, no more sweating, no longer taking up all that extra room! What a momentous occasion!

The never ending question of whether size is important is in front of us now and my answer, when it comes to a miniature portable notebook computer is a resounding, “yes, Yes, YES!” Size does matter as does weight. For me and my computer smaller is by far and away better.
