Consider the benefits of tiled roofing for house building
Posted January 2nd, 2009 by SpikeVery few people give much thought to their roof until a leak develops and a repair becomes necessary. The phrase keeping a roof over your head has become a part of our language, though thankfully few people in this country are unfortunate enough to experience living without a good solid roof.
Roof tiles are one of the longest lasting roof building material ever used. There are several examples throughout the world of tiled roofs lasting for hundreds of years. Despite this durability roof tiles can easily become damaged by wind damage, cracking, spalling or shattering. Almost all tile roofing will need the odd spot of maintenance from time to time. A leaky roof might not become noticable in the living area for quite some time, however a small amount of water leaking through broken tiles onto timbers can cause rot to start developing. These problems need to be spotted early to avoid more serious problems later on. The best way to prevent serious problems from developing is to give your roof the occasional visual inspection for damage. It is suprising how infrequently most homeowners ever take the time to inspect their roof until a problem has become apparant.
If you are embarking on a house construction project and you have yet to decide on the best roof material to use, then a tiled roof must be considered. If you want an attractive and long lived roof for your property then roof tiles are the way go in my considered opinion. A well tiled roof can be a masterpiece of design or it can be just plain and fuctional. Very few roofing solutions are as attractive to the eye as a beautifully tiled roof.
A roof tiled in attractive clay or slate tiles will usually increase the resale value of your house as the kerbside appeal will rise if a beautiful, long lived tiled roof is installed. The most popular roof tiles in use today are clay tiles, slate tiles and concrete tiles. The majority of houses look great with slate roofing tiles or clay tiles. Concrete tiles are usually the most cost effective and most basic tiled roofing solution. Concrete roof tiles are however usually considered to be the least attractive of the roof tile options though there are still plenty of good looking concrete tiles to choose from.
